National Instrument USB-6001 Multifunction I/O Device

The USB-6001 is a Multifunction I/O Device. National Instruments (NI) manufactures the NI USB-6001 device with the part number 782604-01. The USB-6001 is a highly effective data acquisition (DAQ) device for multiple applications, such as laboratory experiments and industrial systems where signal measurements are required. 

The National Instruments USB-6001 Multifunction I/O Device comes with screw-terminal front connections where sensors and/or signals are connected at the input or output channels. The NI USB-6001 is offered with the NI-DAQmx driver software, which needs to be installed for the appropriate configuration of the device. It can be programmed using software packages/application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, SignalExpress, or Measurement Studio.  The device can be configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool.

The USB-6001 device contains 8 single-ended and 4 differential analog input channels. The NI USB-6001 features 14-bit analog to digital (ADC) resolution and 20000 S/s sampling frequency. The USB-6001 processes the analog input signals with the maximum absolute accuracy of 26 mV. Additionally, the NI USB-6001 contains 2 analog output channels featuring a digital to analog (DAC) resolution of 14-bit, the maximum update rate of 5000 S/s/channel, and absolute accuracy of 34 mV at no load. Moreover, the hardware of the USB-6001 device has 13 digital I/O channels and one 32-bit up-counter, capable of supporting an input frequency up to 5 MHz.

The NI USB-6001 device is preferably used in portable measurement applications; therefore, it is designed to be bus-powered. The USB-6001 is compatible with the USB bus interface and has a bus speed of 12 Mb/s. The NI USB-6001 Multifunction I/O Device is powered through a regulated 5 V power source for energization. The USB-6001 device is designed to withstand overvoltage in the range of -20 V to + 20 V and overcurrent up to 200 mA.  

The NI device weighs 2.93 oz without screw terminals, and measures 2.97 x 3.40 x 0.93 in. in physical dimensions. When fitted with screw terminals, the gadget weighs 3.70 oz, and measures 3.67 x 3.40 x 0.93 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 to 45 °C.
